Sue Whyte

Founder of Intimo Lingerie, Sue Whyte dedicated her life to combining her dual passions, a love of fashion and a deep desire to empower women with business skills.

Born in 1953 Sue's early inspiration for fashion came from a childhood spent playing amongst the colours and fabrics of her grandmother’s sewing room. It would spark a lifelong love of fashion that would take her from model through to designer, business owner and inspirational fashion entrepreneur.

Positioned at the heart of fashionable Melbourne in Flinders Lane in the 1970s, by the 1980s she was revolutionising Australian fashion, introducing childrenswear label, Hangabouts to the country and importing top womenswear brands from the US and Norway.  By the mid 1990s, Sue had sold the fashion label and married her soul mate, David. She was ready for a new challenge. Ever the businesswoman, she identified an untapped niche in the market for a brand of lingerie in extended sizes that women could access in a comfortable and personal setting.

Sue launched Intimo in 1995 with just five staff, a small collection of imported lingerie available in only two colours. With dedication to personalised service, product innovation, exclusivity and the genuine opportunity for women to build a successful Intimo consultancy, the company grew rapidly.

Today, Sue’s vision and passion remains firmly at the heart of Intimo, recognised as one of the leading lingerie brands and direct selling companies in Australasia.  With over 50 Staff, 1700 Consultants and a unique lingerie collection that is continually expanding and evolving, Sue’s vision and passion remains firmly at the heart of the business.  With the potential to transform lives and inspire so many women, Intimo will continue Sue’s mission to bring the dignity of a well-fitting bra, personal fulfillment and professional pride to women everywhere.

Her Legacy Sue Whyte has created a lasting legacy, one that will be perpetuated in all the lives she has touched.  What Sue built with Intimo is more than just a lingerie company, it is a career, a lifeline, a family for everyone who is a part of it. It is a company as much about women as it is for women. The career, the opportunity, the financial freedoms and the sense of fulfillment that Sue got from her work are all the things she wanted every woman to be able to experience. She has given women the power to spread their wings, creating a culture of self belief, determination, family and togetherness, a message which has spread so much beyond business into the hearts of all those who met her.
