Intimo Aware

At Intimo we passionately support women. Whether it be through a superbly constructed bra, a career path with genuine developmental opportunities or a personalised service experience that exceeds expectations. Our commitment extends well beyond the business of bras. This is why we launched Intimo Aware, our community program dedicated to raising the awareness and understanding of subjects relevant to women.

We are committed to the Intimo Aware mission;  "Together we are inspiring women to make a difference. Everyday. Always." and have focussed on three key areas; domestic violence, breast examinations and the Uplift Project.

 

Raising Awareness and Understanding about Domestic Violence

One in three Australian women have experienced physical violence in their lifetime [ Australian Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey 2005] and domestic violence ranks in the top five risks to women's health in Australia. [ The Cost of Domestic Violence to the Australian Community. Access Economics 2004]

When it came to our attention that domestic violence affected so many women, we decided to adopt this issue as our way of giving back to the community that has so enthusiastically embraced our organisation and product. One of the biggest perpetrators of domestic violence is silence. We come into contact with thousands of women each and every week and believe that we can make a meaningful contribution to raising awareness of this issue.Through our network of Consultants and customers, we aim to raise awareness, highlight the support services available and start talking about domestic violence.

White Bra Promotion: Every November, Intimo also runs a "White Bra" month where $1 for every Intimo white bra sold is donated to our community partners throughout Australia and New Zealand. The Intimo Aware community partners are:

Breast Aware

Intimo is incredibly proud to partner with the McGrath Foundation to promote the importance of breast awareness and the early detection of breast cancer. The McGrath Foundation was co-founded by Jane McGrath and her cricketing husband Glenn after Jane's initial recovery from breast cancer. The McGrath Foundation aims to raise money to place breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia as well as educating young women to be ‘breast aware’.

The legacy of Jane's work and dedication to make a difference, lives on in the McGrath Foundation and the message that she advocated to all women, early detection saves lives. Project UpLift!

Project Uplift! supplies bras to women in villages all over Fiji and now in other Pacific Island countries where women do not have access to bras because of multiple reasons including price, size and accessibility. Intimo regularly supplies the UpLift Project with shipments of bras to be distributed throughout Fiji and other countries.  For more information on the UpLift Project and the program they are running, log on to their website: www.upliftbras.org
